Film Star or Face Ache

I was filming today … yeah, I know, “get me”! And many of you are aware of my fear of the evil eye … put me on stage in front of a live audience and I’m happy, nervous, but comfortable using the whole space.  In front of a camera I become a proper face ache … look like some kind of lunatic woman! A great face for radio …

 

 

A week ago I agreed to interview a serious player in the business arena for a new company putting together an online TV series for business people. “Terrified” doesn’t get close.  I’ve had a week of sleepless nights, been grumpy and distant with my family and thankfully distracted myself with full focus on my coaching clients.  I’ve a full blown self-limiting belief about this filming malarkey and, with video now so important for online marketing, I’m determined to overcome it.

 

Sometimes you just have to get over yourself, reach for that person you really want to be and go for it! So, I put on the slap, panicked about my outfit, (thanks Suzie Rice from Style Heaven for sorting me out …) learned the script and went for authenticity, whatever that might look like.

 

It was really good fun because this time I was interviewing someone else.  As a coach I’m used to asking questions. I love people and I’m hungry to learn from everyone I meet so it was an honour to interview David Gill, Managing Director of St John’s Innovation Centre.  “Wow!” you may be thinking “seriously clever chap” and his is!  However, he is also one of the most genial and approachable people you will ever meet.  Let’s face it, he made it easy for me!

 

I’ve yet to see the end result of course and will have lots of learning I’m sure. In the meantime it’s another tick on my bucket list, another gremlin overcome and next time I’ll be a lot more confident!
